Rev. Roy David Williams
Rev. Roy David Williams of Kenai, Alaska, moved on to his final reward on Jan. 19, 2024 in Soldotna, Alaska.
Roy was born in Ellisville on Feb. 25, 1934, to Leroy and Ethel (Strickland) Williams. Times were hard and they shaped his life in many ways. He used his skills as a mechanic and machinist to help provide for his family. As a young boy, Roy read “Call of the Wild” and was afflicted with “Alaska Fever” from then on. His love for travel and aviation never ceased.
After marrying the love of his life Ozella in 1952, and having two daughters, they surrendered to the ministry. For the rest of their lives together, they served the Lord. Roy earned his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and his private pilot license while pastoring a small church and working for General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas. Even through adversities, Roy had a true joy in living and a positive spirit that he loved to share with others. The telephone was a valuable tool that he used to stay connected, provide counsel, emotional support and encouragement to others and to share his love of God.
Roy David Williams is survived by his devoted wife of over 71 years Ozella; daughters Sheila and husband Paul Anderson and Cynthia and husband Mark Mason; and five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ray Lee Williams and Richard Lavelle Williams.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Roy David Williams will be Monday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Kenai Senior Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kenai Senior Center, 361 Senior Court, Kenai, AK 99611.
Arrangements are being handled by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
